A Step Closer for New York

Today New York's medical marijuana bill has passed the Senate Health Committee. It also passed last year, but due to issues in Albany the bill stalled. Hopefully this mark's the beginning of the 15th state to legalize medical marijuana.

First clinical trial conducted in 20 Years...

For the first time in 20 years, clinical trials have been conducted on the medical value of smoked marijuana. The study finds that marijuana is a "promising treatment" for a few different conditions. Though there have been plenty of studies in the past few years researching medical marijuana, there have no been clinical trials. This should put many medical marijuana nay-sayers at bay.

Judge makes good points! Says to legalize marijuana

Even conservative judges say to legalize marijuana... The following video makes some very good points that anti-prohibitionist's have been saying for years.

I think the message is finally getting through to people.

Surprise surprise, "harmful" effects of Marijuana exaggerated

Now that it has been thoroughly disproved that marijuana doesn't cause lung cancer like tobacco does, and it has been proved that it doesn't kill brain cells (though many people still believe this)... Prohibitionist groups have moved on to finding studies that say that it causes "psychosis" and mental illness such as schizophrenia.
Though studies have shown that if somebody is already susceptible to these mental illness's, that using cannabis might cause an outbreak, nothing has shown that marijuana in itself causes mental illness.

What's next for the prohibitionist groups? Look's like they're going to need to find something new to mislead the public.

Medical Marijuana Coming to New York?

According to the NYTimes, medical marijuana doesn't look too far away for New York. A bill for medical marijuana has been introduced to New York a couple of times, but came to a stop after the "Senate stalemate in Albany in June".

And according to polls, 71% of New Yorkers think that medical marijuana is a good idea! Hopefully the states representatives will accurately represent the people of NY.
